Here are two links to clubs I belong to:  The Cape Cod & Islands Chapter of the Blue Knights (MA VI), which I joined in early 1991 and am now President of,  as well as the Web Master, and the Cape Cod Chapter of the Harley Owners Group, which I helped form in July of 1988.  There's a bit there to look at; so be sure to check out all of the Links, Photos & Stories....

If there's ONE web site I can recommend, and really stress that everyone should take a loot at, think over and then make the commitment to follow, it's Roger Simmermaker's How Americans Can Buy American.  It tells it how it is, how we can both support our Country and the businesses that make us strong.  You should really consider buying the book, too - It's a wealth of information and a real eye opener.  If we don't take heed and make the effort to stop the "overseas trend", I'm afraid we're on a downhill spiral that will not end well for any of us.    :-(

I've found a great online radio site, www.last.fm , which plays ALL kinds of music and is quite a bit different from the usual sites.  You make a user profile, it keeps track both of the music you're playing and that you've tagged as liking, and it finds other users to connect you with as "Neighbors".  You can search for music, check out information on your favorite artists, as well as visit the usual forum message boards.  I highly recommend it.  If you check it out, I'm there as IronManCC.

Tired of Micro$oft's prices?  Tired of every Micro$soft program being "bloatware" that takes up hundreds of megabytes of space on your hard drive, not to mention requiring faster processors and more memory?  Tired of Windoze crashing or freezing every time you turn around, not to mention those infamous "Blue Screens Of Death" (Fatal Error in DLL, VXD, etc., etc.)?  Just tired of it ALL.....?  Then break yourself free and give Linux a try!  After trying Corel,  Caldera and Mandrake, I presently use openSUSE Linux 11.1 (...started using it some years back around Version 8) and highly recommend it:

openSUSE

Most people think of Linux when you say Open Source Software (Free and non-propriety); but there are many OSS programs available for Windoze machines, too, and some of them are even available on both Linux AND Windoze!  That's a big plus for people who want to give Linux a try while still using Windoze, since you can deal with the same programs between both Operating Systems.  I highly recommend using Open Source Software whenever possible.  Help break the prison that Micro$oft tries to hold us in!  Among programs I regularly use are Open Office for my word processing & office application needs, Firebird (Mozilla) for web browsing, Pidgin for Instant Messaging that supports a wide variety of protocols (similar to Trillian below), FileZilla for FTP file transfers, and Zinf as an excellent audio media player and WinAmp replacement.  Click my Linux icon below to be taken to a web site with LOTS of Open Source Software links:

Keep Track of Friends

A lot of people use an Instant Messaging program to keep track of & chat with friends who are online.  One of the problems we run into is that there are a wide variety of incompatible Instant Messaging programs out there; so we end up running more than one program at a time to keep track of everyone.  Well, we've come across a couple of really neat Instant Messaging programs that pretty much do it all, including AIM/AOL, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo!, as well as a bunch of other protocols I've never even heard of.  As an added plus, they also support IRC, for those of you who like to lurk in chat rooms from time to time.  Pidgin (formerly called GAIM) runs on both Windows & Linux/UNIX, while Trillian is Windows only.  Give them a try and you may find yourself getting rid of all of those other programs that are taking up space on your hard drive and eating up your memory.....

Star Trek

As some of you ay know, I'm a HUGE fan of the old Star Trek series and all of it's subsequent spin-offs & movies; so I was very pleased to find a couple of fan sites that continue the tradition and actually make episodes based on the original series.  For those so inclined, they even have DVD files so you can download and burn your own DVDs of the show!  One of the better ones is Star Trek:  Phase II (formerly New Voyages), which continues the "unfinished" voyages of the Starship Enterprise and even inlcudes appearances by some of the original series cast members.  Another I recently came across was Starship Farragut, which follows the explorations of a sister ship of the Enterprise, and includes some tie-in material to the Phase II series.  There are quite a few other fan sites with lots of video shows to watch; but these two links are a good start.

FREE Web Site Hosting

You may have noticed that I started using a new server for my family web site.  Well, after quite a bit of searching and reading lots of different reviews on-line, I decided that Freehostia.com seemed to offer the best of everything for FREE.  Whereas my old Verizon site allowed for 10 MB of server space, which I had nearly filled-up, Freehostia gives me 250 MB, plus dedicated email addresses, scripting and many other features.  In addition this FREE web space is also AD FREE, so there are no annoying banners or pop-ups to deal with, like you get with many of the other free sites.  So far, I haven't had any problems and things have worked flawlessly in Linux; so it's definitely worth a look if you need a web site.
